IVA annual review: documents and changes

This guide covers England and Wales

The short answer

An IVA annual review checks your income, essential spending and whether the arrangement is still workable. Your payment can change. It is not a new application for an IVA.

Send documents through the secure route your existing supervisor confirms. This site does not collect payslips, bank statements or IVA answers.

Use the review documents checklist

Use the contact details on your own IVA papers. There is nothing to upload or sign up for here.

Documents to have ready

Ask the supervisor which dates and documents they need. The 2025 protocol terms include evidence of income and spending; the exact request depends on your arrangement.

  • Recent payslips, P60 or other evidence of income.
  • Bank statements for the period requested.
  • Evidence of essential bills and changed costs.
  • Details of disability or caring costs where relevant.
  • A note of changes to work, household circumstances or benefits.

Explain what has changed

Include increased essential costs as well as any higher income. Ask what change is proposed, why, when it starts and how it is allowed by your terms. We do not calculate an affordable payment for you.

Do not wait for the anniversary if you cannot afford the next payment, face redundancy or receive money you must report. Tell the supervisor promptly.

If you cannot provide something in time

Contact the supervisor before the deadline, explain the problem and ask what alternative evidence or extra time can be accepted. Keep a copy of the reply.

Failure to cooperate can lead to a breach or termination. If you disagree or the arrangement is no longer sustainable, ask for a written explanation and get independent free advice.
